The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have developed a new National Induction Framework for Social Care.

We’re pleased to support NHS Education for Scotland (NES) with their new approach to quality improvement (QI) learning.

We’ve improved the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) portal for the Early Learning and Childcare Workforce to provide better support for the workforce.  

In June 2024 we changed CPL for registrants to focus on key skills and knowledge required depending on your role and the stage of your career, for example induction or changing jobs. Registrants need to cover core learning elements to meet the CPL requirements.

Recruitment is now open for cohort six of the Care Experience Improvement Model Leaders programme (CEIM Leaders). 

We have produced a new learning resource for people working with children and young people to support you to use the SSSC Codes of Practice, the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the Promise in your practice.

We’re working with Scottish Government, Skills Development Scotland and other partners to develop a graduate apprenticeship route to becoming a social worker.

From June we’ll introduce a three-year timescale for new registrants in the social care workforce to gain their qualification for registration.

We recently held online events to support employers to understand how people should meet the new continuous professional learning (CPL) and return to practice (RTP) registration requirements which came into effect in June 2024. 

Applications for cohort 26 of the Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme (DLP) are open to all health and social care settings in Scotland including health, social care, social work, housing, charities and the third sector.

We are working with partners across the UK to review the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Health and Social Care and Childcare learning and development.
