The Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) Supported Year is mandatory from today, 1 October 2024. It’s part of the framework that will set out a clear pathway for social workers and employers from qualification to advanced practice.

We’re supporting the Care Inspectorate as they develop new dementia resources and we want frontline staff who provide care to people with dementia to take part in the co-design.

Applications for the Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme (DLP) are open to all health and social care settings in Scotland including health, social care, social work, housing, charities and the third sector.

We’re hosting quarterly forums to support implementation of the Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) Supported Year. These are for NQSWs undertaking a Supported Year, those supervising NQSWs and employers and strategic leads for NQSWs. 

With over 2,000 people joining the social care sector each year and even more changing roles within it, staff and employers are investing significant time and money in the induction process.

With over 4,000 users our Preventing infection in social care settings app has been a big hit with the social care workforce. A year on from its launch, we look at who is using it and the impact it has made in supporting practice.

We recently held a graduation event to celebrate the success of the CEIM Experience Improvement Model Leaders Programme (CEIM Leaders).

Applications to the 2024-25 Voluntary Sector Development Fund (VSDF) are now open. The fund supports voluntary sector organisations providing social services that are a registered charity and are registered with the Care Inspectorate.

At the SSSC we use the data and information we gather from fitness to practise to help understand how we can better support the workforce.

We are pleased to announce we are working with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to offer funded places for the next intake of the Scottish Improvement Leader Programme (ScIL).
