New MyLearning badges to boost your skills in care home activities

We’ve launched two updated MyLearning badges to help care home staff create more meaningful activities in care homes across Scotland.

Whether you're new to working in a care home or an experienced activity organiser, these badges can help you build confidence and develop your skills in delivering meaningful activities for residents.

Introduction to care home activity

The Introduction to care home activity badge is for anyone working in a care home, from care assistants and kitchen teams to housekeeping staff and managers. It shows how every interaction, however small, can become an opportunity to create genuine moments of joy, purpose and connection for the people you support.

You'll learn to recognise opportunities for activity in your daily work and develop confidence in supporting both planned and spontaneous activities.

Advanced care home activity

For those with more experience, the Advanced care home activity badge builds on existing knowledge and explores evidence-based approaches to physical, mental and social activities. You'll develop the skills to implement research-informed practices and understand the impact activities can have on the wellbeing of the people you support.

Developed with the sector, for the sector

Both badges were developed in collaboration with Scottish Care Independent Sector Leads for Aberdeen City and Perth and Kinross, the National Meaningful Engagement Network (NMEN) and care home activity leads.
