We opened the public consultation about increasing registration fees on 30 September 2024. The consultation lasted 12 weeks and closed on 23 December 2024.

We recently held online events to support employers to understand how people should meet the new continuous professional learning (CPL) and return to practice (RTP) registration requirements which came into effect in June 2024. 

We’re consulting on a proposal to add new groups of workers from the social service workforce to the SSSC Register and want to hear your views on the proposal. 

Thank you for responding to our consultation on the proposal to increase SSSC registration fees. The consultation closed on Monday 23 December 2024.

Following the changes to our Register earlier this year, workers now need to apply for registration within three months of starting their role. They still need to be registered within six months as before.  

Training providers and employers are invited to offer the new SVQ Integrated Health and Social Care SCQF Level 7, which the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) has approved. This qualification promotes the integrated value of health and social care.

We’re consulting on a proposed increase to SSSC registration fees and want to hear your views on the proposal.

Since June new staff need to apply for SSSC registration within three months of starting their role. This is one of the changes to registration that came into effect on 3 June 2024. 

We want people to know what it means to be registered with the SSSC, to know about the benefits and value of being registered and the standards, skills and qualifications needed to deliver high quality care.  

We’re hosting quarterly forums to support implementation of the Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) Supported Year. These are for NQSWs undertaking a Supported Year, those supervising NQSWs and employers and strategic leads for NQSWs. 

At the SSSC we use the data and information we gather from fitness to practise to help understand how we can better support the workforce.
