We’re pleased to announce the popular leadership programme, You as a Collaborative Leader (YaCL) will run again in Autumn 2025. The programme is open to anyone working in health and social care, examples of who would be suitable for the programme are senior social workers and care home managers.

We’re pleased to support NHS Education for Scotland (NES) with their new approach to quality improvement (QI) learning.

We’ve improved the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) portal for the Early Learning and Childcare Workforce to provide better support for the workforce.  

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has published the SSSC Register Leavers Survey Report which gives an insight into leavers from the social work, social care and children and young people workforce.  

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Mainstreaming and Outcomes Report sets out how we are placing equality, diversity and inclusion at the centre of our work as regulator for the social work, social care and children and young people workforce in Scotland. It shows what we have done since 2021 and our plans (outcomes) for 2025-2029. 

Our first annual Have Your Say Workforce Wellbeing Survey report provides valuable insights from people working in the social work, social care and children and young people workforce on a wide range of topics, including wellbeing, pay, terms and conditions, support, access to training and qualifications and general experiences of working in the sector. 

From 3 May, we’ll start asking a sample of registrants who are due to submit their annual declaration to also provide additional information about how they have completed CPL and demonstrated learning against the core learning elements. 

In June 2024 we changed CPL for registrants to focus on key skills and knowledge required depending on your role and the stage of your career, for example induction or changing jobs. Registrants need to cover core learning elements to meet the CPL requirements.

We have produced a new learning resource for people working with children and young people to support you to use the SSSC Codes of Practice, the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the Promise in your practice.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has published its latest Workforce Skills Report (WSR), providing an in-depth analysis of the current training provision for the social work, social care and children and young people sector.
