A lot has changed in social work practice, not just in Scotland, but across the world in the last 17 years, making this year’s theme ‘Buen Vivir: Shared Future for Transformative Change’ the ideal time to look forward to what is happening next for social work in Scotland.  

We now host the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) portal for the Early Learning and Childcare Workforce which offers easy access to a wide range of learning options.

Following our consultation in autumn 2023 we’re introducing return to practice requirements for social workers who’ve been out of social work practice and off the SSSC Register for more than two years. The new requirements will take effect from 3 June 2024.

We’re introducing new continuous professional learning (CPL) requirements for registrants with a focus on key skills and knowledge. We developed the requirements in consultation with registrants, employers and other key stakeholders. We'll introduce the new requirements on 3 June 2024.
