Vilmantas is a support practitioner with Cornerstone providing care at home and housing support services. He was awarded Cornerstone Learner of the Year award for 2025 for his SVQ assignments that led to substantial improvements in challenging areas, such as mealtime routines for a supported person with high anxiety and trauma.

The percentage of care services reporting staff vacancies dropped again in 2024, two years after a record high.

On 13 October Scottish Government announced the development of a bespoke £500,000 scheme to support Scottish Adult Social Care employers remove barriers for the employment of displaced workers.

We’ve worked in partnership with NHS Education for Scotland (NES) to refresh the Palliative Care Education Framework to bring it in line with the vision of the new Scottish Government palliative care strategy and delivery plan for 2025 – 2030.

We’ve updated our guidance for employing 16 and 17-year-olds in social care and made an online version to make it easier for you. 

It has now been over a year since we introduced significant changes to registration, qualifications and skills to help make registration simpler and easier to understand
