We’re supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week by spreading the word about the role apprentices play in supporting individuals, employers and people who use social care and children and young people services in Scotland.

The percentage of care services reporting staff vacancies has increased to the highest level since publication of figures began in 2017. According to a new report published by the Care Inspectorate and the Scottish Social Services Council nearly half (49%) of all care services in Scotland reported having vacancies at the end of 2022.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) launched a new, improved careers in care website careersincare.scot today as we continue our work to promote care as a career of choice across Scotland.

This Dementia Awareness Week we’re sharing a story from Gareth Jenks who is a Dementia Ambassador. Gareth works as a Home Manager at Hillside View Care Home in Paisley and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a mental health nurse.
