Recruitment open for the next CEIM Leaders programme

Recruitment is now open for cohort six of the Care Experience Improvement Model Leaders programme (CEIM Leaders).

We deliver the programme in partnership with Healthcare Improvement Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland and the Care Inspectorate and we expect to have around 100 people complete the programme by the end of 2025.

What is CEIM?

CEIM Leaders is a coaching skills development programme designed to give staff the knowledge and skills to coach and lead teams to implement CEIM.

CEIM provides a framework that supports health and social care teams to improve services based directly on the experiences of individuals who use them. It was initially developed in 2018 for healthcare settings and more recently adapted for social care settings.

Who should apply?

This programme is open to people working in adult social services and healthcare services. It is designed for people who:

  • work in, or directly with, teams that deliver care or support
  • are committed to improving quality and service user experience
  • can dedicate time to leading improvement activity within their organisation.

If you work in adult social care or NHS Scotland there is no charge for taking part.

Hear from one of our early phase graduates.

Justin Rusk is a Trainer and Development Manager with Alltogether Care Services. Justin completed CEIM Leaders in July 2023. Reflecting on the course, Justin said:

‘The programme has unlocked a new approach to thinking, which has had a positive impact on our processes and our services. We have embedded CEIM from the frontline to the operational team and have embraced the positive change in culture that it enables.

’CEIM has given us a model for hearing and feeling what our people experience, those we support and our employees, giving us the ability to be adaptable, innovative and add value to our internal systems.

‘At its core CEIM has been about Quality Improvement, ensuring we are delivering excellence to the people we support but it has also enhanced our vision, giving us a deeper understanding of where we are, where we should be, and how to get there as a team.

‘Personally, and professionally CEIM supports my own continuous professional learning and has given me tools which I have employed in other parts of my role. It’s a thought provoker, a challenge to be better, the more you employ it, the more you will gain.

‘The best thing about the programme, are the experts behind it. The team have been highly responsive, offering ongoing support. This has allowed us to adapt the model to suit the needs of our organisation. With the security of reaching out to the team, we have continued to develop our approach. The availability of ongoing coaching sessions has been instrumental to our success.

‘Each step of the way we have had feedback, guidance, and encouragement. If you are considering the CEIM programme, don’t hesitate, it is a one size fits all approach to Quality Improvement, for those with or without previous experience.'
