This new level will allow organisations to employ workers carrying out the function of a practitioner role and bring it into line with other groups on our Register.
The addition of the practitioner level of job role will support career progression for people who want to work at a practitioner level but don’t want to be a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
The qualification requirement is similar to those for practitioners on other parts of the Register and our recognised benchmark qualifications, SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 7 or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF level 7.
We have updated our job role information to help you decide which role best fits the work you do/your staff do.
Registering as a practitioner
From 3 June, when new applicants apply for registration, their employers will be able to tell us they work at a practitioner level.
Existing social care registrants will be able to tell us about a change to their role through their MySSSC account.
Support workers
We’ll still have a support worker level of job role for care at home and housing support. You can remain a support worker if your employer and you decide to remain at that level of job role.
