The portal supports the early learning and school age childcare workforce and their employers with their professional development by listing training providers and learning opportunities available in one directory, alongside national online modules and an induction resource.
We developed the portal in line with the Scottish Government’s Early Learning and Childcare Quality Action Plan in partnership with Scottish Government, the Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland.
Natalie Don, Minister for Children, Young People and Keeping the Promise welcomed the new directory in a letter to the workforce.

Online modules
From the directory, you can access free national online modules. The modules cover focused learning on key topics for early learning and school age childcare professionals including:
- understanding the social factors which may impact children’s outcomes in early years
- supporting parents to engage in their child’s development
- supporting the development and progression of children’s early language and literacy
- building confidence in identifying and responding to additional support needs.
National Induction Resource
The directory includes a National Induction Resource for people new to the sector and includes information about what to expect in the first few months.
