The resource will help you to:
- understand how specific elements of the SSSC Codes of Practice protect and promote children’s rights under the UNCRC and The Promise framework
- apply the Codes to case studies involving equality, diversity and inclusion in relationships with children and young people
- reflect on your current practice against the Codes to identify opportunities for strengthening rights-based approaches in your work with children and young people.
You can work through each section yourself, in supervision, with a colleague or in a group setting for learning.
Laura Lamb, SSSC Director of Workforce Education and Standards said:
‘We are thrilled to launch this new learning resource, which will play a vital role in supporting the professional development of the children and young people workforce.
‘The resource has been designed to be as inclusive as possible and to meet the needs of a wide range of learners. It contains a mix of interactive elements, video, audio and traditional text-based learning.
‘By providing free access to high-quality training materials, we are helping individuals to meet their CPL requirements and advance their knowledge and careers in social services.’

Background
We developed this new resource with partners and frontline workers after reviewing the Codes in 2024. The review was a major part of our commitment to keeping the Promise, upholding rights and encouraging relationship-based practice.
