This work will help make sure qualifications and apprenticeship frameworks remain relevant, consistent and fit the needs of the sector.
Our progress so far
We’ve now completed our online sector engagement on the structure and content of the qualifications. The SSSC Council approved the findings on 28 May 2026, and we can now share them with the Qualification Design Team.
The SSSC and stakeholders have now credit rated 159 National Occupational Standards against the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework and revised the qualifications assessment strategy. We’re now preparing to submit the qualifications for approval to Qualifications Scotland Accreditation.
What's next
We’re preparing draft Modern Apprenticeship frameworks which we will share later this year for consultation with the sector, led by Skills Development Scotland.
Awarding body delivery preparation and submission to Qualifications Scotland Accreditation is planned between October 2026 and January 2027, with apprenticeship development following in January 2027, and learning provider delivery expected from March 2027.
