What we did
Since August, we asked you to hold a Codes Conversation in your teams, workplaces or with your colleagues to consider three key questions.
- What do you like about the Codes of Practice?
- How could the Codes better support good practice?
- How could we make the Codes work better alongside the Health and Social Care Standards?
We’re pleased that so many of you made the time to do this and provide feedback as individuals or on behalf of your organisation or team and that we got views from right across social work, social care and early years.
We also held in person and online Codes Conversations and focus groups to hear directly from you and are delighted that 40 people came along to meet us in person and another 60 joined us online.
The Codes focus groups allowed us to have a fuller discussion with participants around:
- relationship based practice
- the employer Codes
- rights and risk enablement.
Next steps
We’re busy working our way through all the views and feedback we gathered to identify any key themes. We’ll use this when drafting the revised Codes of Practice over the winter with support from a short life working group of stakeholders.
We will hold a formal consultation on the revised Codes next spring, when we’ll be looking for your views again and plan to launch them in 2024. We’ll let you know when the consultation opens through our newsletters and website.
The Codes review is part of our wider Future Proofing Programme, which includes proposed changes to our Register and qualifications for registration.
