Person-centred care during the COVID-19 pandemic: what matters to you

A guide for social service workers

We know that every day, you put the person you support and what is important to them at the heart of your care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, your relationship with the people you care for and support is even more critical.

This guide provides a summary of what being person-centred can mean in practice. It contains tips on how to strengthen the relationship with the people you support through good conversations and looks at how this rights-based approach is supported by the Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC’s Codes of Practice.

The guide is one of a range of ‘bite-size’ resources we have been developing to support the workforce during the pandemic. For those of you who are experienced in the sector, these mobile-friendly, accessible resources aim to help refresh your knowledge in the light of COVID-19. For those of you who are new or redeployed to the sector, we hope these guides assist with your induction and learning.

You can find the Person-centred care during the COVID-19 pandemic resource on our Learning Zone at https://learn.sssc.uk.com/coronavirus/personcentred/
