Our 20 years

This month is the end of our 20th anniversary year and we’re delighted to have marked it by celebrating the social work, social care and early years workforce, their professionalism, values and commitment.

We’d like to thank everyone who contributed to our stories, sharing what registration with the SSSC means to them and their organisations. You can read the Registration stories here.

Throughout the year we shared key moments and highlights from our journey with the workforce on social media. Find these on our Timeline.

We also published Making a difference since 2001: SSSC intelligence report highlighting key facts and figures from our work over the last 20 years.

Reflection

Reflecting on our 20 years, SSSC Acting Chief Executive, Maree Allison, said:

‘We’ve been delighted to share stories from the workforce, key partners and our own staff that highlight the difference regulation and registration has made since we embarked on this journey.

‘As we look to the next 20 years and developments like the National Care Service and The Promise, we’ll continue to support the workforce in every way we can.

‘Our Future Proofing Programme, which is looking at our Register, the Codes of Practice and the workforce’s qualifications and skills, is the next step on our journey and we look forward to working with key partners and the workforce to make sure we’re fit for the future.’
