Careers in care

Help us test the new Careers Opportunity Tool

The SSSC and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have been working together with partners since April 2024 to deliver an online Career Opportunities Tool that will encourage more workers to join and to stay in the social care sector.

Thank you to everyone who has worked with us so far in this project. Hearing your views and experiences has been important in the development and design of the Careers Opportunities Tool.

The Careers Opportunities Tool will make it easy to find out more about the wide range of roles and careers available. It will include information on up to 100 different job roles and what skills and experience are needed.

This digital platform will also include tools to help people discover the roles that best match their skills, experience and interests and provide information on how they can progress or specialise in their career.

Help us test the Careers Opportunities Tool

We have now completed the work of identifying the range of roles and career opportunities across adult and children's social care.

We now need your help to test the data before we develop the digital platform using this information. This will make sure it reflects the real needs and experiences of those working in all parts of social services across Scotland.

We are asking anyone from across the sector to be involved in reviewing the job families and job roles to help us to refine them further.

If you would like to be involved, please email us at careersincare@sssc.uk.com.

We plan to finish the testing period by Friday 6 December 2024.
