As we plan for proposed changes to the SSSC Register and the registration process later this year, we are changing our renewal reminders. When the Register changes come into effect registrants will complete an annual declaration instead of a renewal application every five years.
We are now contacting registrants due to renew between 1 March and 31 May 2024 to tell them:
- we are extending their registration for another year
- they do not need to complete a renewal application
- they still need to pay a fee to maintain their registration.
We will contact registrants directly with guidance on how to pay their fee.
Please note, this does not affect the due date of qualification conditions. Registrants who are registered with a qualification condition will still need to gain their qualification by the due date.
What does this mean for employers?
MySSSC
You will not see any overdue renewals on MySSSC past February 2024. Overdue fees will show as ‘overdue annual fee’.
Make sure the right people have countersignatory access
Having countersignatory access for the right people in your organisation makes it easier for applicants to have their applications endorsed, and for us to get your approval of further information requests.
If you are a lead countersignatory please review and manage the list of people who have countersignatory access for your organisation through MySSSC. You can find out more in our Countersignatory guidance (sssc.uk.com).
Please check you have the right people set up to receive notifications about registrants we decide to remove from the Register, such as those who do not pay fees or provide the information we ask for.
