We want to make sure all children and young people get the best opportunities in life. The last few years has seen many challenges and changes within the early learning and childcare (ELC) sector, including the increased hours of ELC provision. This means more staff have been recruited into the sector and there are more opportunities for career moves into lead practitioner and manager roles.
23 Things Early Learning and Childcare Leadership is designed to help you engage in your own leadership development through bite-size pieces of learning and customise your learning experience according to your needs and interests.
You at the centre
Each of the 23 Things puts you at the centre and help you to interpret your leadership and learning in the context of your own role, experience and work environment.
Each activity or Thing provides some theoretical content, a learning activity and an opportunity to reflect on and capture your learning via an Open Badge. Once you successfully complete of a suite of badges, you can earn a group badge.
Earning Open Badges is optional, however you can use them to:
- recognise your learning
- achieve continuing professional development (CPD)
- generate evidence you can use towards an SVQ or other awards.
Who is it for?
Everyone working in an early learning and childcare setting. You do not have to be a manager or leader to complete the 23 Things Early Learning and Childcare Leadership. We believe that leadership at every level is the golden thread that runs through all our leadership resources.
How long do I have to complete the 23 Things?
There is no specified timescale to work through the learning activities – you work at your own pace. You are also free to pick and choose from each of the 23 Things according to your learning needs.
