New guide for employing Ukrainian nationals

We’ve produced an online guide for employers who would like to know more about recruiting a Ukrainian national.

The guide contains lots of general information that employers need to know, as well as links to more detailed sources of advice and guidance.

More than 20,000 Ukranian nationals have arrived in Scotland since February 2022. We want to make sure social service employers have guidance to help them create supportive employment opportunities for Ukrainian nationals who want to build their confidence to start a new career in Scotland.

A job in social care, social work or early years can help people integrate into our society through meeting colleagues and people using services, working in and contributing to communities and by taking part in a range of learning and development activities.

Social service employers can also play an important role by using their experience and expertise in values-based recruitment and compassionate leadership. Offering career opportunities to Ukrainian nationals could also help, even in just a small way, to alleviate some of the workforce pressures that the sector is currently experiencing.

We will continue to update the guide to ensure it reflects any changes in national guidance. Please use the feedback tool in the guide to let us know of any additional information that would be useful.
