Minister for Children, Young People and The Promise visits the SSSC

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) welcomed Natalie Don-Innes MSP, Minister for Children, Young People and The Promise to their Dundee office today.

During the visit, Ms Don-Innes met Chief Executive Maree Allison, Convener Peter Murray and SSSC Council Members to discuss their work.

SSSC Chief Executive Maree Allison said: ‘I’m pleased to welcome the Minister here today to meet our Council and discuss our work. The Council oversees our work as regulator for over 173,000 people working in the social work, social care and children and young people workforce to help make sure we’re an efficient and well-run public sector organisation.’

Ms Don-Innes said: ‘A strong and trusted social service workforce is fundamental in protecting the rights and wellbeing of those receiving care and support across Scotland. The Scottish Social Services Council’s work ensures that workers continue to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver this crucial role. I was delighted to meet with the Council and Executive Management Team today, to learn more about the work of the regulator to support the workforce.’

The Scottish Government Chief Social Work Adviser, Joanna Macdonald, accompanied the Minister on the visit.
