Our guaranteed interview scheme
At the heart of this work is our guaranteed interview scheme, which ensures that any care experienced applicant who meets the essential criteria for a role is guaranteed an interview.
The scheme is designed to remove barriers and offer tailored support throughout the recruitment process, from advance access to interview questions and flexible formats, to quiet spaces and breaks during interviews.
Reflecting on the scheme, Calum Kennedy, SSSC Head of Human Resources said:

‘Care Experience Week is a time to celebrate the resilience, talent and potential of those with care experience.
‘We recognise care experience as someone who has been formally looked after by a local authority, whether in foster care, kinship care, residential or secure care or through adoption’.
The impact so far
It’s a year since we launched our care experienced guaranteed interview scheme and since then 12 applicants have disclosed their care experience during the application process. This figure reflects growing awareness and trust in our inclusive practices.
