New guidance on self-directed support during COVID-19

The Scottish Government has produced guidance for people who assess, approve and administer social work and social care and support (including carer support) and approve self-directed support (SDS) budgets.

The guidance is for those working in adult and children’s services. It is also for care providers and organisations who help people to get the most from their social care support.

The guidance relates to SDS options 1 and 2 and is only relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

Read the guidance here.

Frequently asked questions

Social Work Scotland has also produced a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to accompany the national guidance. They address issues raised by people who use social care support, personal assistant employers, personal assistants, independent advice and support organisations, providers of services and local authorities.

Read the FAQs, which includes an easy read version, here.
