SSSC registration

Scottish Government fee waiver pilot for people registering in adult care and residential child care

New social care staff starting a career in a care home, care at home, housing support, adult day care* or a residential child care service including school care accommodation must apply to register with the SSSC within 12 months of starting their employment.

To support recruitment to these jobs, Scottish Government announced a pilot where it will pay the registration application fee and Disclosure Scotland fee for new applications to register with the SSSC.

This applies to all new applications to register with the SSSC received between 14 January and 31 March 2022 from people who have started working in these services and who need to apply to register with the SSSC.

Anyone applying after 31 March will need to pay the application fee. There is no refund for anyone who applied before 14 January.
