Deadline for EU Settlement Scheme

The deadline for applying for EU Settlement Status is 30 June 2021. EU and EEA citizens working in social services in Scotland need to apply for settled status to continue living and working here.

The transition period, including free movement of workers, ended on 31 December 2020 and EU citizens who want to continue living and working in Scotland after that date have until 30 June 2021 to apply to the UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme. If you have not already done so, we would encourage you and your families to apply – and to do so as soon as possible. Details are available here: https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families

Most people will find the application process straightforward. You can apply online and it’s free, but some people may require more help. The Scottish Government funds third sector partners to provide free support from qualified advisors. The EU Citizens’ Support Service can be contacted on 0800 916 9847. A number of factsheets explaining the rights of EU citizens in Scotland can be found in six languages at www.justcitizens.scot/EU
